One Saved System represents one trading approach.
Backtest trades and live Journal trades remain separate evidence sets.
A Journal trade is stored once and can be assigned to its system.

A Saved System connects one approach with its Backtest, live trades, notes, risk settings, and reviews.

What belongs together#

Keep trades in one system when they follow the same core rules and should share one expected behaviour. Separate them when a different setup, market logic, risk model, or execution process would make one baseline misleading.

Use a name that identifies the approach. A market and setup name is more useful than System 1.

How the Journal uses systems#

The global Journal stores each live trade once. Assigning a trade makes it appear in that system's Journal view without copying the trade.

StateMeaning
UnassignedQuantprove does not yet know which system owns the trade.
AssignedThe trade is connected to a Saved System.
ExcludedThe trade remains in the Journal but does not enter that system's analysis.

Your notes and review context do not rewrite broker-sourced trade data.

Set up a system#

  1. Open Saved Systems or the Journal.
  2. Create a clear name for one approach.
  3. Add its Backtest when historical evidence is available.
  4. Assign matching live trades from the Journal.
  5. Add notes and review context where useful.
  6. Keep new synced or imported trades assigned consistently.

What happens next#

Backtest establishes the expectation. Live Journal trades can support Validation and Monitor as evidence grows.

Use Assign trades to a system for the Journal workflow.
